Abdurrahman has represented a diverse range of clients – from emerging start-ups to global enterprises – in connection with complex intellectual property matters, including patent preparation and prosecution, portfolio strategy and management, trademark protection and enforcement, copyright counseling, and IP licensing and transactions. His experience extends across both the technical and business dimensions of innovation, allowing him to bridge the gap between inventive ideas and their commercial realization.
Abdurrahman practices in the technology fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models, data compression, cloud infrastructure, autonomous systems, embedded software, and electromechanical devices. His work also includes advising on patent strategies involving natural-language processing, data-driven modeling, automation technologies, and computer-implemented processes.
Prior to joining the firm, Abdurrahman practiced at an AmLaw 100 firm where he supported high-volume patent portfolios for Fortune-level clients and technology innovators. In that capacity, he was responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, performing freedom-to-operate and validity analyses, and developing forward-looking IP strategies in collaboration with in-house counsel and engineering teams.
Abdurrahman prides himself on building genuine, long-term relationships with his clients. He seeks to understand each client’s broader business objectives and technological ecosystem – beyond the scope of any single invention or brand – to deliver strategic, meaningful protection that aligns with commercial goals. His approach emphasizes clear communication, technical fluency, and an appreciation for the human side of innovation, ensuring that clients not only achieve strong IP protection but also enjoy the process of developing it.
Personal:
Abdurrahman enjoys spending time with his family and values experiences that bring people together – whether on the ice, at home, or in his community. A lifelong hockey player, and former member of the Egypt Men’s National Ice Hockey Team, he now spends countless hours coaching his kids’ hockey teams and developing their love of the game!
Abdurrahman also enjoys mentoring young professionals and students interested in law and technology, helping them navigate the intersection between innovation and impact.
